Classic musical celebrates anniversary with Royal Philharmonic at Albert Hall.

-- /EPR NETWORK/ -- The Royal Albert Hall is set to host two special screenings of Singin' in the Rain with live accompaniment by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. A re-mastered print of the film will play on a big screen, following in the footsteps of similar, sold-out screenings of the Lord of the Rings and Matrix trilogies, and West Side Story. The screenings take place on March 8th and 9th.

Starring Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds, 1952's Singin' in the Rain is widely-regarded as one of the greatest movie musicals of all time. Set during the golden age of Hollywood, it charts the transition of film from silent movie to talkie, telling the story of Don Lockwood (played by Kelly, who also choreographed the awesome dance sequences) and his fellow actors swift, joyous adjustment to the new era. The iconic score includes 'Make 'Em Laugh', 'Moses Supposes' as well as the titular classic. Naturally, it follows in the grand MGM musical tradition of a heart-warming central love story.

Performances start at 7.30pm, with ticket prices ranging from £15-£55. Fans can also take advantage of a special offer on selected London hotels, recently announced by LondonTown.com.
