'Kew the Music' in July followed by 'Kew the Movies' later in the summer

-- /EPR NETWORK/ -- Blondie, Paul Weller, Leona Lewis and Jools Holland all feature on the eclectic line-up for Kew the Music , the returning series of outdoor picnic concerts set against the stunning backdrop of the Victorian Temperate House at Kew Gardens this July. Two months later, Kew the Movies returns in September after a successful debut last year, with three nights of open-air screenings in partnership with The Luna Cinema.

Iconic New Yorkers Blondie get Kew the Music off to a rapturous start on Tuesday 9th July with support from original Stranglers singer Hugh Cornwall. Electro pop pioneers The Human League headline alongside synth-pop supremo Howard Jones inan 80s-themed second day ahead of a sold-out performance by Modfather Paul Weller with special guests Charlie Boyer and the Voyeurs on Thursday 11th July.

Debonair dandy and longstanding Kew the Music favourite Jools Holland takes to the stage with his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra to host a boogie-woogie bonanza on Friday night, featuring Gilson Lavis, Roland Gift - the voice of Fine Young Cannibals - and guest vocalists Ruby Turner and Louise Marshall. The penultimate night sees X-Factor songstress Leona Lewis perform alongside timeless club groovers Soul II Soul, before fantastic folk faction Bellowhead headline a closing night extravaganza on Sunday 14th July with special guest Billy Bragg and the passionate songwriter KarinePolwart.

These six outdoor gigs at Kew Gardens are one of many London Events taking place in the World Heritage Site and former royal residence in southwest London this summer. The 2013 Kew the Movies programme takes place between Thursday 12th September and Saturday 14th September and features Cinema Paradiso, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Dirty Dancing.

Giuseppe Tomatore's beautiful bittersweet Oscar-winning Cinema Paradiso opens the weekend on Thursday, telling the story of a little boy's love affair with the silver screen. Crystal Maze maestro and Rocky Horror creator Richard O'Brian puts in a special appearance for Friday's screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which celebrates the wacky musical comedy's 40th anniversary. Tying things up with a combination of watermelons and the funky chicken is every girl's favourite childhood film - and a finale of the late Patrick Swayze gyrating and taking Baby out of the corner will no doubt ensure that the fairer of the sex will have the time of their lives while shedding a few tears.

Taking place from May through to November at Kew Gardens is the IncrEdibles series, which celebrates the many edible species grown in the gardens and aims to inspire visitors to broaden their knowledge on food and their relationship with what they eat. A centre point of the series - the transformation of the Palm House Pond by food architects Bompas& Parr - sees the return of rowing boats to the pond, with visitors able to navigate the colourful vessels towards a giant pineapple island before entering a hidden banana grotto.

Tickets to Kew the Music start at £35.50 while tickets for Kew the Movies cost £16 for adults and £12 for children. The IncrEdibles series is free although visitors must still pay an entrance fee into the Botanic Gardens (£16 for adults, £14 concessions, free for under 16s). Boat hire on the pond costs £4.50 per adult and £2.50 per child for half an hour.
