The capital's food festival programme is an indulgent affair, reports LondonTown.com

-- /EPR NETWORK/ -- With quirky new restaurants constantly opening and street food vendors surpassing expectations, eating out in London has become quite the trend lately. It's no longer about which bar you're going to at the weekend, it's about where you're having your dinner. Embracing the gastronomic delights that the city has to offer, London boasts a year-round programme of food festivals that provide a treat for all palates. Visitors from outside of London need not miss out as a number of cheap London hotels can be found on LondonTown.com.

Running across the country and with three London-based events, the Foodies Festivals are one of the biggest offerings on the culinary calendar. Launched last weekend at Hampton Court Palace, there are two more festivals left for the summer: Clapham Common Foodies Festival (7th -9th June) and Battersea Park's Feast (16th -18th August). Both festivals provide the chance to meet Michelin star chefs, see live demonstrations and sample food from some of London's top restaurants. LondonTown.com is running a competition for the Battersea Park festival and has ten pairs of tickets to give away. Simply visit the website's competitions page to find out how to enter.

Another major offering is Taste of London at Regent's Park. Taking place from 20th to 23rd June, Taste serves four days of al fresco gluttony with more than forty of London's best restaurants, including a flurry of Michelin stars, showing off their culinary handiwork. Visitors are invited to work their way through a range of miniature speciality dishes while also shopping for fine wines, spirits and gourmet foods.

A food festival with a difference is Street Feast London, the capital's first-ever late-night food festival. Taking place every Friday from now until the end of June, the festival welcomes some of the best street food vendors that the capital has to offer. However, the main star of the event is Chef Ben Spalding, who serves his 'Stripped Back' feast of interesting, delicious and high quality food at an affordable price. The festival has also launched a series of seven Saturday events including a Craft Beer Battle, where guests try an array of beers and vote for their favourite; Gin Stock, a gorge on the spirit with eight gins and eight bars; and Ribstock, the highly popular event that invites a number of chefs to show off their meaty skills.

Further highlights on the food festival calendar include the Soho Food Feast (8th -9th June), all the best eateries in Soho serve their signature dishes and drinks; Rioja Tapas Fantasticas, an indulgence on fine wine quaffing; and Feast, some of London's top food joints head to Brick Lane for the "Glastonbury for foodies".
