Do liars always win? Can you stand by the truth, even when it goes against your interests?

New York, -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- These are the pressing questions of Born Liars,' the first show produced by italytheater. Born Liars' is a theatrical elaboration that draws on the Neapolitan tradition. It will be on air from April 2014 and is to be unveiled in a preview format at Theatre 80 St. Marks Place on December 3rd and 4th, with the extraordinary participation of FEDERICO RAMPINI (La Repubblica).

Born Liars' delivers a universal message. Truth is as fragile as a bud: it needs care and protection to turn into a beautiful flower. On the contrary, lies are exactly like hurricanes that grow relentlessly to devastate everything on their paths. And, we are the creators of our miseries when truth is neglected and shortcuts accepted to ease our way through the obstacles of life. Lies are egoistical creations, whose effects are unfortunately social, exponentially painful and always dreary. It takes tremendous ethical discipline to accept what's real, and work hard towards success and happiness.

Born Liars' is the first original play by italy theater, an international not-for-profit project conceived by Vittorio Capotorto and Francesco Pagano, whose objectives are: (1) to give new artists the chance to create and re-invent Italian arts, design & culture; (2) to allow kids and teens to nurture their imagination & social engagement ; (3) and to include everyone from the most diverse background to exchange contemporary Italian experiences.

italy theater 's mission is to share with the world the irresistible beauty of new Italian cultural experiences . At the center of the world: NYC. Its goal is to create the first permanent Casa Teatrale where the best of Italian Theater and the power of live performances will help especially the young to nurture their dreams, discover their identity and build a better world.

Before moving to New York City in 1997 from his native Italy, Vittorio Capotorto staged more than a hundred plays over the course of forty years. He has always been inspired by the celebrated Italian Maestro Eduardo De Filippo, with whom he worked as an assistant and actor. His theatrical experience, which began in the late 1950s, includes the founding and directing of theater companies in Italy, Sudan, and Argentina. His repertoire has ranged from Machiavelli to modern playwrights such as Jarry, Nicolaj, and Dario Fo; at the same time, his mission is to bring to the stage original inedited works by new playwrights, making use of the talents of young people in all aspects of production (e.g., dance, music, set and light design). Upon arriving in NYC, he created the Italian Theater Practicum course which he taught at Columbia University (1998 to 2001), Brooklyn College (2005) and now at The City College of New York. In addition to the plays staged for the Practicum both in NYC and Italy, Mr. Capotorto has staged in NYC, including English versions of Pirandello's The Jar , Eduardo De Filippo's Long Legged Lies (Players Club), Aldo Nicolaj's Visit To Relatives , Paolo Tartamella's The Busboy , and Nicola Saponaro's Weekend With A Killer . He is the founder and Artistic Director of the ongoing International Festival Orlando Innamorato.

Francesco Pagano works in Strategic Marketing for a major international food company. He holds a MIA from Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs (NYC) and is a passionate lover of Italian culture and food.
