HOUSTON, -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- Tickets for the Shell and Pennzoil Grand Prix of Houston presented by the Greater Houston Honda Dealers, June 27-29 at Reliant Park, will go on sale March 15 giving fans the chance to enjoy multiple race series, an IndyCar “doubleheader” and an exciting festival of speed.

After a successful debut of the “doubleheader” concept in 2013, Houston will host two IndyCar races in 2014, one each Saturday and Sunday. In addition to IndyCar, the Grand Prix features a full schedule of support series races including the return of The Mazda MX-5 Cup and Pro Mazda Championship as well as several new racing events to be announced later.

“The Grand Prix made a successful return to Houston last year, and we are looking forward to continuing the tradition in 2014,” Chuck Kosich, general manager of the Grand Prix, says. “It’s equally exciting to have title sponsor Shell Oil Company and presenting sponsor the Greater Houston Honda Dealers both return to make the event possible.”

Tickets go on sale to the public March 15, but advance tickets are available by joining the Grand Prix’s “Checkered Flag Club,” a free membership fan club available at www.grandprixofhouston.com/club. The ticket pre-sale begins March 11 at 10 a.m. and ends Thursday, March 13 at 10 p.m.

Ticket prices with grounds admission start at $10, reserved grandstand seat pricing start at $45, and 3-Day Premium Reserved tickets are $135. Individual pit passes start at $10 and are restricted to fans 18 years old and older.

Reserved ticket holders will experience upgraded grandstands provided by Tower Scaffolding. The coated aluminum grandstands, used at the Formula 1 event in Austin, will provide a better grandstand experience for fans. The new configuration will enable higher grandstand construction, to as many as 38 rows high, allowing a higher pitch for better sightlines and an extra one-inch of width for each seat. The specially coated grandstands effectively reflect sunlight so that they will be comfortable to sit on in the heat of the day.

In addition to world-class racing, the Grand Prix offers a wide variety of activities including live music, race team paddocks open to all fans, exhibits and interactive games, and a family fun zone.

“The Grand Prix is the most family-friendly major sporting event in Houston. Kids 12 and under are free all weekend and adult ticket prices start at just $10,” Austin Crossley, managing director of the Grand Prix says. “With the kids out of school for the summer, we are offering an affordable option for families.”

The 2014 Grand Prix has additional amenities to make the event comfortable for fans. Grand Prix sponsor, Ace Hardware, will provide cooling zones throughout the venue, which will feature refreshing misters and shade and fans are permitted to bring one 20oz bottle of water per person into the event. Reliant Arena will include more indoor fan activities including interactive games, expos, an exotic car show and the Family Fun Zone, giving children and parents a way to cool off.

Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, online at grandprixofhouston.com, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, or in person at the Reliant Stadium South ticket windows inside Budweiser Plaza.
