MBAF adds Jesus Socorro as Principal in Audit Department

MIAMI -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- Jesus Socorro, CPA, has joined nationally recognized public accounting firm Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Farra, LLC (MBAF) as a principal in the Audit Department. Socorro will cover the Miami – New York corridor. The announcement was made by Tony Argiz, Chairman and CEO of MBAF.

Socorro brings extensive experience managing the audits and capital markets transactions of publicly-traded and privately-held companies in various industries ranging from start-ups through Fortune 500 organizations. He has substantial global experience with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, International Financial Reporting Standards, and Securities and Exchange Commission reporting, in addition to deal experience with domestic and foreign private issuers. Socorro has also worked with many public companies on a number of audit-related special projects to comply with the provisions of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

"Jesus' wide-ranging audit experience spans numerous industries, and combined with his technical accounting and deal experience, make him a well-rounded addition to our team," said Frank Gonzalez, principal-in-charge of MBAF's Audit Department. "His experience and leadership will be highly valuable to both our clients and audit department, and we are pleased that he will join us at our headquarters in Miami with responsibility for the Miami – New York corridor".

Prior to joining MBAF, Socorro was an audit senior manager at one of the "Big Four" accounting firms, where he served a broad spectrum of clients, including real estate, health care and pharmaceuticals. His technical accounting proficiency encompasses financial and real estate asset valuation, leasing, business combinations, revenue recognition, equity-based compensation, consolidations and derivative financial instruments.

Socorro is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Florida Institute of CPAs, where he was previously the president of the Downtown Miami Chapter. He is also the former president of the Cuban-American CPA Association and the organization's Foundation, and has served on the boards of several other organizations, including Hispanic Unity of Florida and the Miami chapter of the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting. He is an active member of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Socorro received a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University's J.L. Kellogg School of Management and a Bachelor of Accounting from Florida International University. He also completed graduate business study at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and a management and leadership program at Harvard University.
