The effective date of the Communication can be considered as 16 January 2015; date of publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
The General Product Safety Directive 2001/95/EC (GPSD) (http://ec.europa.eu/consumers/consumers_safety/product_safety_legislation/...) is an important piece of legislation in demonstrating the presumption of conformity for certain product categories where there is no specific European regulation.
Updates to EU General Product Safety Directive
On 16 January 2015, Communication 2015/C 014/03 (http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/PDF/?uri=CELEX...) was published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) to harmonize a series of standards for a wide range of products for demonstration of compliance with the General Product Safety Directive 2001/95/EC. - A number of completely new standards have been harmonized by publication in the OJEU for the first time.
- A number of existing standards have been superseded by more recent versions for demonstration of conformity.
