LONDON, October 29, 2015 -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- “Let's praise Pink Noise Party and Gaspard Delanoe's rebel vocals for recollecting Fire In Cairo (1979), a clearly topical song which the Parisians just revisited with a moody and nonchalant electro pop sound”
Les Inrocks

"Retro basslines delight in ‘End Of Summer’, an appropriate kaleidoscope of haze and blur all fused together perfectly with boy-girl harmonies"
Never Enough Notes

“Don’t you just wish it could last forever?” That’s unique French trio Pink Noise Party lamenting the melancholic slide into autumn, which itself serves as a metaphor for the impermanence of love. But you might also apply the same sentiment to their new single ‘End Of Summer’ which distills a season’s worth of bittersweet longing into four minutes of pop perfection. Consisting of Joy Buckley (vocals, bass, keyboards), Syd X. Rey (vocals, guitar, keyboards) and Sebastien Tanquart (drums), Pink Noise Party are making waves in Europe and beyond with their striking (struck pink) aesthetic and curious sounds.

The trio has performed more than 40 shows in midsize venues in Paris (Bus Palladium, International, 114, Dandy, FGO-Barbara, MPAA Saint-Germain, Glazart) and also performed at Printemps de Bourges (opening for Jil Is Lucky in 2013) and on several stages abroad (Nambucca and Lexington in London, Laboratoria in Moscou). They’ve worked with famed producer Robert Harder (Whitey, The Sunshine Underground, Babyshambles, White Rose Movement, Ali Love, MCraft, Gwyneth Herbert, Soho Dolls, Shakespeare's Sister, The Rubicks, Herbie Hancock and Squarepusher). Radio support has come from the likes of Radio NEO, Radio VL and IDFM Radio Enghien 98.00.

‘End Of Summer’ is as much superlatively smooth Yacht Rock reverie as chilled dancefloor seducer. It sounds compellingly - and eccentrically - like Kate Bush circa The Red Shoes sharing a cocktail and a sunset with Damon Albarn in his Gorillaz suit. Sounds like an odd combination? Well it is. But it works. As if to underline their uniqueness, Pink Noise Party have invented their own musical category, Quantum Electro Rock. The group was founded by a trio of physicists who met in a record shop during an international physics conference in Los Alamos. Pink Noise Party apply their scientific knowledge to their music, composing with the aid of self-invented devices they call Quantum Gimmicks Generators (Q2Gs).

Push them for straightforward musical influences and they’ll cite The Arcade Fire, Hot Chip, LCD Soundsystem, Metronomy and Phoenix, not to mention the Australian scene that is home to Cut Copy, Empire Of The Sun and The Presets. They also honour the post-punk of the 1980s and 90s including The Pixies, The Cure, New Order and Depeche Mode, plus Blur, Happy Mondays and other "Madchester" groups. Sonic Youth are also favourites, and the group maintain that their “vocals are primarily inspired by early David Bowie and Pink Floyd albums.” Like Bowie and Floyd, they’re not averse to expansive, innovative multimedia conceits. RIOT for example was a street performance, created and directed by the Party, that combined music and dance and was part of Nuit Blanche 2014, an international event in Paris with undeniable success that celebrates contemporary art. RIOT tells the rise of a tyrant, his apogee, destitution and killing, and eventually his replacement. It mixed live sequences from the band and choreography with professional dancers from Conservatoire Paris and Luciernaga theatre group.

The end of summer? Afraid so. The start of something weird and wonderful? Without a doubt.
