Press Release Body = (April 18, 2007 - Los Angeles, CA) - It was announced last week that Saphier, Rein & Walden partner and CEO of Dishon & Walden Associates, Inc. Richard E. Walden has been elected to the Board of Visitors of TCU's noted AddRan College of Humanities and Social Sciences for a term of four years. The College has produced many notable alumni by providing concentrated liberal arts courses, an exceptional intern program and formal study abroad.
Mr. Walden has been a member of the California State Bar since 1983 and is a partner in the Los Angeles-based law firm of Saphier, Rein & Walden where his practice involves substantial transactional work and civil litigation, including sports, entertainment, real estate and business matters. He is also the founder, Chief Executive Officer and General Counsel of the sports agency Dishon & Walden Associates, Inc. with a concentration on athlete representation. "I am very excited to be working with my alma mater and the distinguished members on the Board," says Walden who counts many top professional athletes among his clients. "As an attorney and educator I feel strongly that teaching people about a job or profession is only part of the task -- teaching people about life and community equally important. AddRan recognizes the importance of each and I am looking forward to helping the Board fulfill its mission of promoting the value of a liberal arts education and the worth of humanities and social science studies for careers and for life." In 1873 Addison and Randolph Clark established AddRan Male and Female College in Thorp Springs, Texas prior to moving to Fort Worth Texas and becoming Texas Christian University. The AddRan name graced the college that encompassed the humanities, social sciences, mathematics, natural sciences and engineering for many years and in 2000, that large collection was divided, forming a new AddRan College of Humanities and Social Sciences. The Board includes such notable members as the Honorable Jim Wright, Former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, United States District Court Judge S. Maurice Hicks, Jr., novelist Kate Staples Lehrer, Dr. Valerie Neal, Curator for the Smithsonian Institution, John Robinson, Executive Vice President of the Amon G. Carter Foundation, Bob Ray Sanders, and Vice President of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
