Austin, Texas, October 2, 2007 -- For nearly 40 years, Narconon, meaning "narcotics–none" or "no drugs," has been helping people to recover from alcohol and other drug addiction throughout the world. In order to overcome the society's number one health problem, there must be effective drug education and prevention programs and materials available. Narconon shares the ambitious goals of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy and other organizations to reduce adolescent drug use and knows that even greater results can be achieved by helping to educate more people. That is where the Narconon Drug Education Lectures come in.

The next one will be held in Austin, Texas on October 6, 2007, at 10:00am, at the Palmer Events Center (located at 900 Barton Springs Road). Detailed information can be found at www.KnowAboutDrugs.org or by calling 888-585-0888. This free 40-minute lecture will answer a number of key questions including:

...... How do drugs actually affect the body and the mind?
...... What causes a person to crave drugs?
...... How do drugs affect the user and the people around him or her emotionally?
...... What is the relationship between people's body fat and drug cravings?
...... What is the "biophysical model" of drug addiction and what does this mean for anyone taking any kind of drug?

All attendees will receive a free copy of the 36-page booklet "Healing Addicted Lives" and a complimentary DVD, showing real results of the Narconon Arrowhead program, from real people. The lecture will also discuss the myths and falsehoods surrounding marijuana, including what the drug actually does to the user; what really causes today's youth to get involved with drugs and alcohol in the first place; the damaging physiological effects of drugs; what drugs can do to the brain, and how this is related to drug cravings, and, what someone can do to prevent someone from ever taking drugs in the first place.

Misinformation about drugs and alcohol runs rampant in the adolescent and adult population, and a lot of people don't really know what happens to a person's mind and body when they ingest these toxins. This is an opportunity to find out the truth about drugs.

According to a supervisor at Narconon Arrowhead, "Narconon's goal is the total eradication of substance abuse, and our ever-increasing staff is dedicated to making this happen. We must shift the social viewpoint to make drug use unacceptable instead of normal."

Narconon was founded by William Benitez in Arizona State Prison in 1966 to help get fellow inmates off heroin (for more information visit www.EffectiveDrugRehab.com). Since then, the effective program that uses technology developed by American author and humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard has grown to approximately 120 groups in nearly 40 countries and continues to expand due to the results that are achieved through its life-saving education and rehabilitation.

Narconon Arrowhead is the center of this international network and is also one of the largest and most successful drug rehabilitation and education programs in the country. To attend the drug education lecture call 1-888-585-0888 or visit www.KnowAboutDrugs.org.
