Big Bingo Winner gets £1.16 Million Jackpot!

Mr Frankie Lowell was relaxing in front of the television when the telephone rang. He thought it was somebody trying to sell him something so he left it for a few minutes before answering. The ringing was persistent and when he could no longer ignore it he picked it up. “Yes?” he snapped gruffly into the mouthpiece.

It was his wife Soraya. She had been out with her friend and neighbour Agnes O’Neill for an evening of fun at the local Bingo parlour in Coatbridge in Lanarkshire. A central computer controls the game and the calls are relayed to each participating club simultaneously. Soraya just needed the number 90, and it was called. Quick as a flash she called house and the prize, all £1,167,796 of it, was hers.

Soraya tried to tell her husband about the win over the phone but there was so much commotion and excitement that he did not completely understand what she was saying, and when he did make out what she was telling him he thought it was a wind up. He passed the phone over to the couples daughter who listened to the story and found out that it was a fact that her mum had won. “It’s true dad” she said.

Soraya said that she would share the prize with Agnes, her long time friend. Despite winning so much money Soraya only took a few days off work before going back to work as a cleaner. The bingo win will certainly make a big difference to her and her family and to Agnes as well.
