From 3rd to 5th May 2011, the cable, broadband and satellite industries will come together for their annual trade show. The show, set to take place in Cologne, Germany, will be an exhibition and congress like none other for the industry.

The show is set to host 395 exhibitors from 31 different countries. It will also welcome some 15,000 trade visitors, if the numbers from 2010 are any indication.

The show has huge appeal among international visitors. Last year, a full 43 per cent of the visitors were from outside of Germany. There is still a focus on things closer to home, however. The domestic market of the show was 40 million households.

For this year, the show’s organisers have already announced what they want to key in on. The topics of most import this year will include next generation access networks, interactive TV, hybrid TV, video on demand, 3D TV and smart homes. These topics are at the heart of the industry right now, as technology and demands from consumers rapidly change.

The organizers additionally expect to see a growth in the sales in the industry due to changes instituted in Germany. These changes include a switch off of the analogue satellite transmissions used in the country.
