LondonTown.com recommends the upcoming William Klein/Daido Moriyama exhibition, with suggestions for excellent nearby hotel deals

-- /EPR NETWORK/ -- This October sees the opening of one of the Tate Modern's most exciting autumn exhibitions of the last few years, with a cross-continental journey looking at the complementary – and contrasting – art practices of William Klein and Daido Moriyama.

The exhibition will explore the relationship between these two artists' work: the former, American, born in 1928, and the latter, Moriyama, born in Japan in 1938, set within the huge expanse of the Southbank's Tate Modern.

It postulates Klein as one of the twentieth century's most important photographers and film-makers, and Moriyama, at the centre of Japan's Provoke movement in the 1960s, as another key protagonist in the relationship between film and photography, urban life and political resistance.

The exhibition opens on October 18 th and runs until the middle of January 2013, leaving plenty of opportunity to catch it as part of a special Christmas trip or shopping expedition to the capital.

The Tate Modern, built inside a former power station on the banks of the River Thames, opened in 2000 to universal acclaim, and has enjoyed 12 years of huge success since, most recently opening its basement spaces, ‘The Tanks' for a rolling programme of live art and experimental performance.

The Southbank is an excellent place to stay for cultural and shopping trips. LondonTown.com recommends using its latest innovation – the HotelMap widget – to find excellent hotel offers near the Tate Modern, to make your trip easier and cheaper.
