Jewellery-themed exhibition opens December 5th, curated by Dr. Susan Cohn

-- /EPR NETWORK/ -- Most of probably don't think twice about the watches, rings and necklaces that adorn our necks, wrists and fingers, but a new temporary exhibition opening at the Design Museum may change all that.

Unexpected Pleasures, a jewellery-focused exhibition curated by Melbourne-based jeweler Dr. Susan Cohn, examines our relationship with the little luxuries that we wrap around our extremeties.

The exhibition promises to investigate both the pleasure that comes with these items, and the meanings and semiotics associated with jewellery wearing. The Design Museum will house work by plenty of respected UK designers, including Wolverhampton's David Watkins, who designed the Olympic medals for London 2012.

Alongside several other fashion and appearance-focused exhibitions in London this Christmas (from Valentino's couture at Somerset House to Hollywood Costume at the V&A), the event presents an excellent attraction for visiting tourists and Londoners looking for a special holiday within the city.

Those looking to make a weekend of it can look up cheap hotels in London through LondonTown.com, the number one website for London, whose ability to source discounts and deals direct from city hotels make it the first choice for prospective visitors.

Just over the river from the Design Museum at St Katharine's Dock is The Tower, a Guoman hotel, that has 91% off double rooms on 13th December – stay there for £91 per night.

Alternatively, head to the south side of the river, where you'll also find luxury doubles under £100; Think Tower Bridge on Tower Bridge Road has apartments for £99 a night, and a few minutes further south is Think Bermondsey Street London, another luxury apartment on one of the most exclusive streets in the area, for £90 per night.
