London International Mime Festival Offers New Insight into Mime

From 10-27 January 2013 at venues across the capital, including the Barbican, Jacksons Lane , Linbury Studio Theatre at the Royal Opera House, Platform Theatre, Roundhouse, Soho Theatre and the Southbank Centre, the world's greatest visual and mime artists will dazzle with a vast array of skills.

Drawing on physical theatre, dance, circus, puppetry and live art performances are inventive, creative and ingenious and definitely not what one would expect from mime artists. Groups and individuals will descend on the capital from around the world, each offering their own unique interpretations and perspectives on mime and visual theatre.

Highlights include Amit Drori, from Israel, who journeys to an imaginary savanna, with the audience invited to join the ride; Chinese-born puppeteer Yeung Fai retells the past half century of Chinese history as ‘Hand Stories' and aerial specialists Ockham's Razor are back with their second feature-length performance entitled Not Until We Are Lost.

After watching the action many will be inspired to give this form of theatre a go themselves. This is made possible at the numerous workshops, lectures and ‘meet the artist' sessions. It's a well-conceived, well-rounded festival that will appeal to all.
