LONDON, January 03, 2013, 11:25 am -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- One of the biggest trends that was spotted on the catwalks throughout the various Autumn/Winter ’12 shows was structured layering, and this is more than evident in the new season Winter Wonders collection from French designer Roland Mouret.
The Barnicles dress is a key look for the AW12 season, with its layered look giving the illusion of a two piece blouse and skirt set. The soft, fitted crepe top with long raglan sleeves contrasts with the heavier peplum of the A-line apron skirt that accentuates the waist, and the dress is drawn together with an exposed panel leading down the back.
Meanwhile, the Markham coat is sure to become a staple in any winter wardrobe this season. This double breasted coat is tailored using a grape/dark purple stretch felt, with a vent pleat formed at the back that brings a modern approach to this classic winter coat.
One of the highlights of the Roland Mouret AW12 show was this Drummle dress in a traditional looking Prince of Wale check. This layered long-sleeved dress features an asymmetrical neckline and a fitted inner layer underneath the skirt, with a tie at the back and the exposed zip reaching halfway down the dress that has become something of a signature in Roland Mouret pieces.
These are just some of the fantastic pieces from the latest collections that are currently available from Roland Mouret, and there is no better time to invest in the best items from the AW ’12 collections, as Roland Mouret are now offering free shipping on all orders made via their website throughout December.
Born in Lourdes in 1962, Roland trained at a fashion college in Paris but left after just three months to work as creative director at French magazine Gai Pied Hebdo in the 1980s. Having founded his own design group with Andre and Sharai Meyers in 2000, Roland left the group in 2005 and took a two-year hiatus from the fashion world, but now he is back in the forefront of the fashion industry, with the help of his new financial backer Simon Fuller.
His unconventional approach to fashion design, preferring to shape his fabrics directly onto the models rather than working from sketches, has seen Roland Mouret establish a reputation as one of the modern masters of structure and aesthetics. The now famous Galaxy dress, a firm favourite of Victoria Beckham and other A List celebrities, was widely proclaimed amongst fashion critics as the Dress of the Season in 2005.
