KINGSPORT, Tenn., -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- Perennial Wood™ has been chosen a 2012 Record Product by Architectural Record magazine and its jury of architects, designers and product specialists. The annual review seeks to identify outstanding new building products in several categories based on the submitted questionnaire, product data sheets, photos and actual product samples, when feasible. Perennial Wood was chosen as an outstanding new material. The full 2012 Record Products report is available in the December issue of Architectural Record and on its website at: http://archrecord.construction.com/products/productreports/2012/.

Made by Eastman Chemical Company, Perennial Wood is real wood modified to endure nature’s harshest elements. It is modified through TruLast™ Technology to resist changes from moisture and remain dimensionally stable — three times more stable than unmodified wood — making it suitable for nearly any exterior construction application.

“Perennial Wood offers a unique value proposition — real wood without drawbacks traditionally associated with unmodified wood,” said Deborah Baum Crain, director of Perennial Wood. “Architects and designers have come to appreciate the authenticity and character of Perennial Wood, particularly in light of its stability, durability and sustainability.”

Currently, commercially available applications include Perennial Wood decking and Perennial Wood porch flooring. It is also available to other manufacturers for use in their products such as outdoor furniture, windows and doors. Perennial Wood decking and related components are available in New England at select Lowe’s stores and select building materials retailers. Perennial Wood porch flooring is available at select building materials retailers in New England and the South Atlantic.

Longevity and Stability
TruLast Technology permanently modifies the wood, providing a physical barrier throughout that’s warranted to protect against rot, decay and movement for 25 years. With greater dimensional stability, Perennial Wood is less susceptible to shrinking and swelling that cause bowing, cupping and warping.

Sustainability
Perennial Wood is made from U.S. Southern pine and is processed and finished in the U.S., eliminating the need for shipping wood from offshore sources, lessening the environmental impact. Because it lasts longer than most unmodified wood, Perennial Wood needs to be replaced less often, resulting in less material disposal over the long term. TruLast Technology leaves no toxic substances within the wood, delivering peace of mind to homeowners.
