Chef Gonzalo Jimenez Joins Grand Hyatt New York as Executive Pastry Chef

Award winning pastry chef Gonzalo Jimenez is now behind the delectable desserts at New York Central restaurant and room service at Grand Hyatt New York.

NEW YORK, -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- Chef Gonzalo Jimenez has been appointed Executive Pastry Chef at Grand Hyatt New York. In this role, Jimenez will oversee the pastry department at the hotel, as well as the seasonal dessert menus at New York Central restaurant located in the main lobby.

Most recently, Chef Jimenez was Executive Pastry Chef at Hyatt Regency New Orleans where he was responsible for leading the pastry department and incorporating the farm-to-table influences of the hotel’s food and beverage philosophy. Prior to joining Hyatt, Chef Jimenez served in a variety of roles beginning his career at 5-star hotels throughout his homeland, Argentina, and eventually moving to the States, taking on the role of Pastry Chef at the St. Julien Hotel and Spa in Boulder, Colorado. During his time in Boulder, Jimenez focused on improving his artistry with chocolate by creating elaborate modern chocolate sculptures.

Chef Jimenez has worked under the likes of celebrity Chef Donato de Santis and attributes this experience to solidifying his passion and perfecting his skills as a pastry chef. Jimenez has been showcased in European pastry magazines and takes part in pastry competitions representing Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, and has achieved multiple awards.

Chef Jimenez attended L’ecole, a culinary school in Mar del Plata, Argentina where he received his degree in Culinary Arts at the age of 19. Wishing to further his culinary education, Jimenez enrolled in L’ecole Lenotre in Buenos Aires, Argentina where he studied the chemistry and molecular gastronomy of food.
