in New York City. Their colorful, inviting booth received a constant flow of traffic and interest not only from mainstream cutting edge designers, but trendy boutique owners, hosiery clubs, higher-end department stores, and press.

“The array of customer-types truly proves that we are a company that appeals to a wide demographic of women, from the fashion-forward to the racy to the more demure,” responded Edward Miccinati, design director of the StockinGirl line. “We know no age group either, though we have a tendency to appeal to the younger, more adventurous types.”

Stockingirl’s leg wear, all 200+ styles shown, definitely stood apart, but definitely not away from the crowds of interested customers. “This is one of the first shows where we surely saw a rise in buyers who put their pens to paper. It made us very happy to see new faces as well as returning customers and buyers who were hesitant in purchasing a year earlier, but were completely convinced this
year,” Miccinati commented.

“The selling trends were right on cue to what the company had predicted,” remarked B.B. Lavin, associate publicist for StockinGirl. “We saw an increased buyer response to StockinGirl’s expanded styles, including their new prints, open work, and laces.”

Can the increased interest in hosiery that StockinGirl has been seeing be contributed to their fashion-forward approach or possibly to a growing number of hosiery wearers? “I think it’s a bit of both,” Rachel Winters, senior publicist for the company stated. “We’re seeing a growing number of younger consumers becoming educated and excited about wearing new styles of leg wear. Young women see that leg wear can be sexy, trendy and wearable at the same time and StockinGirl definitely caters to that demand.”

“I’m always amazed by the reinforcement I get from both men and women when I wear hosiery,” remarked Summer Rayne Oakes, Spokesmodel and Marketing Manager for StockinGirl. “Attention is immediately drawn to the leg, whether I’m wearing a short or long skirt. Even when I’m wearing a sheer-printed trouser sock under my
jeans, eyes are always drawn to the pattern and color.”

When asked what her favorite StockinGirl styles are, Oakes responded, “I usually prefer to wear StockinGirl’s sheer-printed pantyhose because they’re the most fun and easiest to wear, but when I’m feeling a bit sassier, I will think nothing of it to wear their ultrasheer stocking styles…there is nothing sexier than a great pair
