-- /EPR NETWORK/ -- The Barbican Centre's most ambitious off-site event this summer, Open East Festival reopens the north section of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on the 27 th July 2013, the first anniversary of the Opening of the London 2012 Games. The area will be London's newest urban park and will provide state-of-the-art venues and attractions alongside homes, schools, businesses and plenty of green open spaces and artwork. For those travelling to the festival from outside of the capital, a wide range of cheap London hotels can be found on LondonTown.com.

A year on from the global sporting event that transformed east London, the weekend-long festival – which sees the Park work in partnership with the Barbican and Create London in part of the Beyond Barbican programme of events – aims to commemorate the creative legacy of the Games, celebrate its landscape and bring it to life for everyone to enjoy. There will be live international music, the Real Food Festival and a Mini-Travelling Art Circus, which is presented by The House of Fairy Tales and features theatre, magic and games. As well as the travelling circus, young visitors will also be entertained by the Discover Children's Story Centre, who run regular story trails and garden trails in east London, and Charlie dark's hip-hop, poetry puppet adventure.

The Art Car Boot Fair, known for selling artwork from top artists at reasonable prices, will be there to showcase signed work by local artists; Caught By The River combines literature, angling, music and beers; the Eco Design Fair puts on an arts and fashion market, blending the best vintage and contemporary designs that London has to offer; and Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller presents his life-sized inflatable replica of Stonehenge. The festival will be brought to an impressive close with an installation by food artists Bompas and Parr, renowned for their weird and wonderful confectionary creations.
