Gordon Ramsay and his former protégé launch London restaurants just weeks apart

-- /EPR NETWORK/ -- Gordon Ramsay, Jason Atherton and Angela Hartnett, three of the UK's most high profile and talented chefs, have all opened new London restaurants this autumn, adding to the wide choice of first rate London restaurants in the capital.

Gordon Ramsay's recently opened Union Street Café, near Borough in Southwark (launched 16th September 2013), offers diners classical North Italian cooking in an industrial warehouse setting. The Mediterranean restaurant is Ramsay's first opening in London since Bread Street Kitchen in 2011 and his tenth restaurant in Britain.

Jason Atherton, the man behind the Michelin starred Pollen Street Social and the Social Eating House, is responsible for the restaurant within the London EDITION, a stylish Marriot hotel in Fitzrovia, near Oxford Circus, designed by legendary hotelier Ian Shrager. Atherton's Berners Tavern, which opened on 12th September 2013, is named after the hotel which was built on this Soho site in 1908 and serves modern British food using the best of British ingredients, changing with the seasons.

The Merchants Tavern in Shoreditch, a brand new opening from Angela Hartnett which officially launched on 8th October 2013, sees the chef teaming up with the founders of Canteen, Dom Lake and Patrick Clayton-Malone, to set up a modern European restaurant and bar housed within a Victorian warehouse and former apothecary in the heart of Shoreditch.

Hartnett has partnered with her boyfriend, chef Neil Borthwick, and brought the head chef from her Michelin-starred Murano restaurant in Mayfair , Diego Cardoso, to help with the new restaurant, serving a menu inspired by Italian, French and Spanish cooking.
