-- /EPR NETWORK/ -- The Bank Of England Museum has announced its new exhibition will open on April 1st following a three-month closure of the museum for a complete revamp. Curiosities From The Vaults will offer visitors their first chance to revisit this fascinating London museum after its short closure. The Bank Of England Museum is located in the Bank of England itself. Curiosities From The Vaults offers the chance for the museum to bring some of their stranger and rarer items out from the archive. These include disparate items that have never or very rarely seen the light of day and exhibits include Lawrence of Arabia's camel's sandbags, which were used to carry gold across the Arabian desert; a wooden secret ballot box made by Sir John Soane, the Bank's architect, and used for years in countless meetings in the Court Room at the Threadneedle Street building; early sketches, printing plates and test prints for banknotes; and visitors books, carrying the signatures of dozens of notable visitors from all walks of life and countries who visited the Bank of England since its inception in the seventeenth-century.

The Bank Of England Museum will close between January 1st and March 31st 2014 for a complete refurbishment and reorganisation of the galleries. It is one of London's most popular smaller museums, offering visitors a rare chance to step inside the famous Old Lady of Threadneedle and see exhibits exploring the history of money and banking going back centuries.
