Free exhibition at Kenwood House complements the National Gallery blockbuster

LONDON, October 14, 2014 -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- London is having a Rembrandt revival this autumn. At the same time as a landmark exhibition, Rembrandt: The Late Works, opens at the National Gallery (15th October 2014 18th January 2015), two early works by Rembrandt will go on display at The Iveagh Bequest at Kenwood House in Hampstead Heath.  Kenwood House is located in the incredible Hampstead Heath, the huge expanse of wood, heath, hills and ponds that sits in the north of London, offering Londoners a slice of the country close to home. Between October 2014 and May 2015, visitors will be able to see two of the renowned artist's early works, both from around 1630 - Anna And The Blind Tobit  is on loan from the National Gallery while Jeremiah Lamenting the Destruction of Jerusalem  is on loan from the Rijksmuseum. For those art lovers seeking respite from the blockbuster at the National Gallery, or who merely want an extra dose of Rembrandt, this small display at a beautiful gallery on tranquil Hampstead Heath should be ideal.

Kenwood is famous for its world-class art collection including a Vermeer, a Turner, two Van Dycks and walls full of Gainsboroughs, Reynolds and Romneys, thanks to a bequest by Lord Iveagh in 1927 which left Kenwood and its collection to the nation. Following an extensive restoration and representation project, which was opened to the public last November, these famous paintings can all now be seen at their best in the new setting, and with free entrance. The gallery is maintained by English Heritage, while the Heath that surrounds it is run by the City of London.
