At age 12, his family returned to Colombia where he learned to create classic South American dishes from his mother.
Traditional Italian food became his favorite type of food and the Italian cuisine continues to be a great influence in the family. At the age of 16, the family moved to back to the US to Miami. After graduating college, Tulio became a marketing consultant but continued to cook as a hobby and continued to perfect
his craft. He moved to Chicago where he was able to work with many of the most renowned chefs in town and realized it was time to dedicate his career to his passion for cooking. He opened his first restaurant in Chicago in 1992.
Tulio returned to Florida to open Tulio’s Café in Boca Raton in 2004. Ready for a new challenge, Chef Tulio accepted the position of Executive Chef at Cafe Med and Burger Craze at the Wyndham Deerfield Beach Resort in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Both restaurants opened in early 2014 to rave reviews. Chef Tulio has developed a loyal following and continues to showcase his talents, creativity and passion that have inspired the delectable menu at both outstanding beach-side restaurants.
