Press Release Body: New York, NY- February 12, 2008- Paradigm Shift, New York City\'s Feminist Community and Elle*Eye Design proudly present the Third Annual MichFest Half-Way Soirťe party on March 1st in honor of the six month mark to the famed Michigan Womyn\'s Music Festival. All are welcome to join us at Cattyshack, Brooklyn, (249 4th Avenue between President & Carroli St.) at 6:30 pm-3:00 am, pre-party drumming circle 5:30-6:30 pm.
Featured performers of MichFest Half-Way Soirťe and festival veterans include internationally renowned award-winning poet/performer/activist Staceyann Chin and critically acclaimed singer/songwriter multi-instrumentalist Nedra Johnson. Chin co-wrote and performed in the Tony nominated Russell Simmons Def Poetry Jam on Broadway, appeared in Academy Award nominated film Across the Universe, is a winner of numerous poetry slam awards, and has toured internationally with both her one-woman shows Hands Afire and Unspeakable Things. Johnson\'s self-titled sophomore release is a 2006 Outmusic Award winner, and has led her to tour internationally at jazz, blues, pride & women\'s music festivals as a solo artist and a tuba player/vocalist with her father Howard Johnson & his group, Gravity.
The MichFest Half-Way Soirťe party offers dinner at 7:00 pm, DJ and dancing 10:30 pm-3:00 am. Guests are invited to enter a raffle to win a ticket to Michigan Womyn\'s Music Festival ($450 value), private yoga sessions, personal training services, massage, trapeze lessons, MichFest gear, and jewelry. Tickets are $15.00 in advance, $25.00 at the door (add $5 if attending pre-party drumming circle).
The Michigan Womyn\'s Music Festival has been held every August on 650 acres of Michigan woodland for over 30 years. The MichFest Half-Way Soirťe party is in celebration of the transformative, inspiring, and talented intergenerational community that has flourished at the Michigan Womyn\'s Music Festival. The festival has remained a pilgrimage of thousands drawn to feminist-infused music, performance, and art.
MichFest Half-Way Soirťe 2006 & 2005 featured musicians Bitch, Nedra Johnson, and Liz Kelly and was attended by hundreds from across the nation. NYC\'s 2005 Half-Way Soirťe was the first of it\'s kind and spawned a Half-Way party nation-wide movement which has grown to over a dozen of celebrations.
