Press Release Body: May 27, 2008 - Christiansburg, VA - Eclipse Winery, LLC announces its formation and decision to locate to Montgomery County, VA. The future winery will be located between Radford and Riner Virginia, strategically located in the heart of the New River Valley. Eclipse Winery's vineyard production plans and business plan are complete and vine plantings are underway.
The vineyards for the winery will be located throughout Montgomery County and sites will continue to be chosen throughout this calendar year. Eclipse Winery, LLC co-owner, Richard Obiso, PhD, says, \"We are pleased to bring Eclipse Winery and the winery experience to Montgomery County. It is a great opportunity for us, Montgomery County, and for Virginia wine lovers throughout the Commonwealth. This part of Virginia has grown considerably over the last 10 years, is now considered a Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), and, has demonstrated tremendous agritourism potential.\"
Melissa Obiso Eclipse Winery\'s other co-owner, and owner of InkWorks, a residential design firm, also located in Montgomery County, reflects: \"We would like to create a winery with a relaxed atmosphere where visitors come to learn something new and meaningful about wines. We want people to feel comfortable during their experience at Eclipse Winery.\"
Eclipse Winery will spend the next several years developing the vineyards, choosing the best site for the future tasting room, and developing a comprehensive marketing plan. Eclipse Winery, LLC will host several investment seminars for those interested in equity investment in the company.
The winery's decision to locate in Montgomery County, Virginia was part of a multi-year search for the ideal location and be strategically situated between existing wineries to create a 'wine trail'. Southwest Virginia represents a pristine location for this winery. Several wineries have already called SW Virginia home, and, boasts 2 AVA (American Viticulture Areas) and two nationally recognized wine trails. Eclipse management also wanted to find optimal 'mountain' vineyard conditions, while still being central to the agritourism and economic growth areas of the Roanoke and New River Valley in Southwest Virginia. The winery has plans for an attractive tasting room, a picturesque area that is ideal for picnics and casual wine tasting, and an area for wine education and wine appreciation classes.
Eclipse Winery is committed to bringing to its Virginia customers the very best grapes and wines that modern viticultural methods will permit and plans to grow several varieties of grapes including: Chardonnay, Chardonel, Cabernet Franc, Viognier, and will eventually produce over a dozen different wines. The winery plans to plant over 15 acres of vines in the next three years, and plans to open its doors to the public as early as the summer of 2012.
