Millington, Tennessee 38053 - Monday 28/6/2010 - Few know this Unknown Indie's success story is of a non traditional genre for an Afro-American. Names like Film Directors Spike Lee and John Singleton are not known for such sci-fi special effects. Yancey Hendrieth is a New Breed of black filmmaker more in common with Dino De Laurentiis, Peter Jackson and Kevin Costner. Yancey stars in his own epics. Yancey's SPFX rivals ONE MILLION YEARS B.C. and Ray Harryhausen with stop motion models, mechanical and visual effects.

Yancey Hendrieth's "cult classic" was created by modest means. A KING KONG size gorilla hand was operated manually. His visual effects establish this larger-than-life movie among those mysterious gigantic stone heads of "Easter Island".

His IMDb Performance Resume reveals his 1976 SAG Debut in STARSKY & HUTCH. Yancey's acting skills lead him into a gorilla role made famous by Rick Baker's makeup for the cast of PLANET OF THE APES. As the son of SUPERSIMIAN, the KONG size gorilla in LOST ON ADVENTURE ISLAND, Yancey portrays BUDDY THE GORILLA, a Silver Back Mountain Bull in a mechanized ape suit walking on all legs by the aide of its forearm extenders. Yancey's SPFX Team designed a full gorilla head piece helmet with facial expressions rivaling Rick Baker in THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING WOMAN. Air brushing in keen areas made Yancey's black ape fur appear having sun burn. Its silver back was a realistic airbrush job. "Born with a silver spoon in his mouth" did not apply to Yancey. He took a second mortgage on his house to finance this epic, which he proved "if there is a will there is a way" making a low budget $96K, yet elaborate film outside the Hollywood system. Voluptutous Amazon Women rode bareback spirited stallions adding opulent production value. These ladies and horses were actually rodeo champions enhancing this fantasy theme realism. Cast and crew shared Yancey's "labor of love". The Rondo Award Voters validated this collaboration by their nomination "Best Independent Production on DVD" and announcing Fourth Honorable Mention "Best Independent Film". Editorial Page Quotes by Publisher Mike Fredericks, Prehistoric Times Magazine Issue No. 87 Fall 2008: "LOST ON ADVENTURE ISLAND is a dinosaur movie, sci-fi fantasy, KING KONG Horror Spoof, which has achieved International recognition by the French Website www.clubdesmonstres.com/lostonadventureisland.htm as a "cult horror classic" among multi-million dollar horror classics produced by major Hollywood studios and critical acclaim by THE 6TH ANNUAL RONDO HATTON CLASSIC AWARDS, www.rondoaward.com, who recognizes best films in this genre. Against all odds by modest means, Yancey Hendrieth is the First Afro-American to beat the Hollywood studio system using stop motion models, mechanical and visual effects in a KING KONG Spoof.
