Beginning on 16th April 2011, DirectRooms.com announces the annual Highlander Mountain Marathon, taking place over two days. The two-day course is an event for any person with a sense of adventure. As teams navigate mountainous terrain, they will have to carry all equipment necessary for overnight camping.
The marathon participants must have the ability to navigate the course in foul weather and over rough ground in the Highlands of Scotland.
All participants must be over the age of 18 years and have to compete in teams of two. The entries must be made in pairs and each team member is required to maintain contact with the other throughout the competition.
Entry fee for the competition for each team is £90. If the team members have a SPORTident card, the fee will be reduced to £86. Teams will choose a course depending on their skills and abilities. There are courses for elite athletes as well as for first time competitors. Organisers will provide competitors with a mandatory kit list.
The event kicks off at 9am on Saturday morning. There will be staggered start times for various teams. All teams will compete over the course of two days, with all competitors having to finish the course by 9pm on Sunday.
Competitors arriving in advance for the event will find a wide range of hotels in Glasgow available for accommodation both before and after the event.
