Paris's L'Olympia theatre will play host to a gig by the US singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens in May.

The 35-year-old uses a broad range of influences to create a unique sound that hovers around minimalist electronica and folk, but is not restricted to such genres.

Stevens will take the stage on May 9th 2011 and is likely to play plenty of tracks from the two records he released last year, the EP All Delighted People and album The Age of Adz.

Fans may be hoping to hear tracks from 2005's Illinois, which is the LP he is most famous for.

Audiences can expect to hear him play a variety of instruments, as he is a talented guitarist, drummer and pianist among other things.

In a statement, his record label Asthmatic Kitty said: "Sufjan Stevens mixes autobiography, religious fantasy and regional history to create folk songs of grand proportions."

Stevens co-founded the label with his stepfather Llowell Brams in 1999.

Tickets for the Paris show cost between €33 and €47.30 (£29.20 and £41.90), depending on where people want to sit. The gig will get going at 20:00 local time.

Music fans can find a huge selection of discount hotels in Paris on, including options in nearby Montmartre.
