DirectRooms.com can announce that the 7th Cologne Floorball Festival is to take place on the 3rd and 4th of September 2011.

The 7th Cologne Floorball Festival tournament will be made up of 16 teams divided into four groups. Teams already signed up to take part in the tournament include Germany, Switzerland, France, Sweden (where the game originated) and Finland. The central governing body, the IFF, hopes that the growing interest in the game and the many countries (currently, 80) that play floorball will lead to the sport being included in the 2020 Olympics.

The festival will take place at the Nordhallen in Cologne’s Sportspark, and the arena is in close proximity to a great many cheap Cologne hotels.

Floorball was developed in the 1970s. The game is related to ice hockey, although it is played indoor, and has a rapidly growing international fan base. The stick used by players is shorter than that used in ice hockey, but just as lethal.

Visitors attending the festival will also discover that Cologne itself is a fascinating city to visit. Transport links within the city are excellent, and travellers will be able to choose from the underground, trams, buses and ferries for their method of transport. The many attractions in this beautiful city include the cathedral, museums, parks and of course, the Rhine.

Transport to the Sportspark from the Cologne city centre is relatively straightforward, and there is easy access by tram. For further information about the 7th Cologne Floorball Festival please contact the organisers, or visit their website.
