whatever mobile launches a new SIM based connectivity solution for the Internet of Things

Hamburg, Germany, February 16, 2016 — /EPR NETWORK/ — In the course of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (February 22nd-25th) Hamburg´s mobile service provider whatever mobile GmbH launches the “wherever SIM” for the Internet of Things (IoT).

The IoT market is growing rapidly. According to Gartner, 5.5 million IoT devices will be connected in 2016 every day. Mobile connectivity is becoming more and more a key success factor for many IoT projects, as most use cases are designed for mobility. But even for scenarios with immobile endpoints it often makes sense to include mobile connectivity as a fallback option, especially for time critical services. But if mobile connectivity is bound to a single network you simply won´t always have the quality of network coverage that you need.

Therefore, whatever mobile offers the “wherever SIM” that provides the best GSM network coverage wherever devices may roam. The IoT/M2M SIM card dynamically switches to the strongest network – integrating 400+ radio networks in 160+ countries all around the world. For all networks there is just one technical integration point, one price and one invoice. SIM cards and endpoints can be easily managed in real-time via the intuitive user-interface or directly from the customer´s software application via an easy-to-integrate API.

Security is always of particular concern to whatever mobile. Thus, the wherever SIM comes with a set of advanced security features: set data volume limitations for each individual SIM card, restrict communication of devices to specific IPs, or simply lock the SIM card to a certain IMEI to prevent fraud.

Thomas Bühl, product owner at whatever mobile states, “Mobile connectivity is the key to unleash the power of the Internet of Things. We offer simple, secure and global connectivity with just a single SIM card. Making connections has never been easier. We connect security firms with front doors, defibrillators with doctors and vending machines with soft-drink manufacturers.”
