Luxury Dining Pop-Up to Appear at a New Location with a New Plant-Based Menu Each Month

Los Angeles, United States, 2018-Apr-20 — /EPR Network/ — Citizen Mustard, an upscale, weekly plant-based dining experience, launches in Los Angeles on Thursday, April 19, 2018.  Appearing at a new address every month, Chef Megan Marlow’s Citizen Mustard is luxury dining for the adventurous.  With a rotating menu that entices both plant-proficient and plant-curious patrons, extraordinary venues are turned into elegant dining experiences.  Marlow, who has previously worked as a personal chef for clients like Rick Caruso and Jillian Michaels, orchestrates the elevated dining experience with a curated ambience that complements each month’s menu.  Seated at custom-made wood and steel communal tables of twelve, each week’s 36 guests will enjoy an exhibition of courses that showcase local farms and purveyors, weaving California’s finest ingredients into seasonal, modern menus.

“Citizen Mustard grew out of my desire to showcase plants and plant-based foods in the high-end light they deserve, while simultaneously providing guests with a fun, intimate, and memorable experience,” said Marlow.  “As a chef, the pop-up format is particularly exciting for me because the environment is always changing, just like the menu.  Life changes and evolves, and so should our dining experiences.”

Citizen Mustard’s April dining experience is titled, “A Modern First Impression,” and will take place at a beautiful neighborhood venue on the edge of Hancock Park on Thursday, April 19, and Thursday, April 26, both from 7-10pm.  Menu highlights include Wild Mushroom Risotto Croquettes, Miso-Beet & Tahini Tartare, and Meyer Lemon Cheesecake with Rosemary Shortbread Crust.  Tickets are $245 per person and include complimentary valet service, a cocktail hour with passed hors d’oeuvres, a multi-course plated dinner with libation pairings, formal dining service, gratuity, tax, seasonally inspired dishes, an unforgettable location, and a donation to charity.  At every Citizen Mustard experience, 5% of proceeds go to a charity, which, like the location and menu, rotates each month.  For the month of April, 5% of proceeds will go to charity: water, a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries.  charity: water echoes Citizen Mustard’s mission to promote environmental sustainability, as a 100% plant-based experience.

“I believe that we were put on this planet to help each other,” said Marlow.  “When we dine together, we connect.  When we connect, we have the power to improve the lives of others.  Connection is the one thing, above all else, that makes us feel human, and giving back feeds the soul.  We partner with charities to tell their stories and help them reach more people to raise more funds.”

For Chef Marlow, finding her way to a plant-based career has been a journey.  “I was definitely not a fan of vegetables as a kid.  I used to drench my green beans in mustard just to make them palatable.  When I was in my early 20s I got into health and fitness, found myself slowly cutting out animal products, and eventually went completely plant-based.  I love the challenge of creating dishes solely from plants, and mustard is something I use often in cooking because of its high acidity and salt content.  Growing up, I used mustard to mask my vegetables, but now I use it to elevate them.  When it came to naming this new, upscale dining experience, it didn’t take long to come up with the name Citizen Mustard.”
