Julie is a unique force as a woman in the construction business. A powerhouse in what is normally considered a man’s world. She is a one stop shop for those who are thinking of building a home from the ground up or remodeling any aspect of their current residence. With more than 500 home remodels under her belt, she has become the go to person who will tell it to customers straight and get the job done right the first time.

Julie’s company, Julie Laughton Design Build, provides homeowners with custom, start to finish Design Build services where she draws the plans, designs both the interior and exterior in order to make it easy to help every client make the home of their dreams a reality.

A little background on Julie, she grew up in Iowa and graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in interior design, which included architecture and mechanical engineering. Upon graduation she was offered position in New York City where she spent 7 years building her stellar reputation with two different architecture firms. During that time she also worked with the top 5 developers building 40-story high-rise buildings. Some of her most recognizable projects include: The Friars Club, South Street Seaport, Liberty Court, Bank of American’s 5th Ave., Corporate Offices, Citibank’s Park Avenue Corporate offices and David Webb Jewelry on Park Avenue.

Her experience brought her to Southern California where she built her business into the model of success it is today. Working in the residential area, she realized it was mandatory to become the contractor and help organize the project effectively.

Julie Laughton is a licensed general contractor, JLGC License #903819, licensed interior designer and a certified custom kitchen and bath designer. From conception to completion, her motto is: “It all starts with a good plan.”

An active philanthropist, Julie is a member of the local community, one of her many callings is to be the incoming President of the Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce. She donates much of her time to the Laguna Beach Clinic and the Laguna Beach Food Pantry, she remodeled the local radio station KX 93.5, a non profit station which survives only with donations from the local community.

This year, Julie will be helping to sponsor the Taste of Laguna, Newport Film Festival and the Annual Laguna Beach Golf Tournament where she personally sponsored four firemen, four policemen and four high school students. She also writes a monthly column in Real Producers Magazine and is an Editorial Contributor to Joli Magazine.
