Is PTE Test A Better Choice Than The IELTS For Students?

The PTE and IELTS are two English language tests that are taken by students worldwide. We take a look at reasons for the growing popularity of the PTE test.

HYDERABAD, India, 2019-Sep-18 — /EPR Network/ — Students who plan to study abroad in English speaking countries such as Canada, UK, USA, etc. as well as professionals, who plan to immigrate for work to these countries, are required to take an English language test, and submit the results of the same. These tests are designed to evaluate the level of English skills of the test takers. Two of the most popular tests for the purpose are the IELTS and the PTE. We take a look at why some students are preferring to take the PTE test over the IELTS and whether the PTE is a better choice.

Why Do Students Prefer PTE Test to IELTS

Many students nowadays are preferring to take the PTE test, in place of the IELTS to prove their English language skills. One of the main reasons for this is that the current tech savvy generation, prefers the PTE as it is completely computer based. The IELTS on the other hand is a paper based exam.  Also if you are introverted and are not comfortable talking to a stranger, then the PTE test can be the better choice for you, as in the IELTS speaking test, you have to speak to an actual person, whereas in the PTE test you speak to a computer.

Another reason for students to prefer the PTE TEST to the IELTS is that the PTE is easier to score in the writing section. Many students have related their experience that they attempted the IELTS multiple times, but were unable to score the requisite band 7.0 or higher, which is the minimum standard set for persons who desire to immigrate to certain English speaking countries such as Canada and Australia as well as the minimum criteria for many of the top universities for accepting international students.

Of course there may be many students who are comfortable with the pattern of the IELTS and prefer to take that test to showcase their ability to communicate in English with ease. Many students may be more comfortable with taking a test on paper, rather than on a computer.
