Press Release
Summary = Berlin/Cannes, 8. February 2005 – With a new Email
Push solution for the ultimate business device Nokia Communicator
9500 and 9300 the Communicator is becoming a real competitor to
the Connected Organizer Blackberry
from Research in Motion (RIM).
Press Release
Body = The new Email and PIM Push client for the NOKIA Communicator
allows to deliver new Emails or Appointments directly to the users
Communicator. These Emails can arrive on the users intranet groupware
server like MS Exchange or
LOTUS Domino or on any open Email Account. Until now, the user had
to manually start the email transmission into their communicator.
But true Email Push is seen as the key to the impressive success
of the proprietary Blackberry solution and has made the Blackberry
to the gadget of choice for many managers. “With the keyboard,
the large screen and his powerful office capabilities, the Nokia
Communicator was and is the first choice of road warriors around
the world”, says space2go CEO Christian Huthmacher “by
adding true Email Push to that device, we help make it even more
compelling for business users that want to stay connected with their
office.”
The new Email
Push solution for the NOKIA Communicator is based on a technology
by
Germany based mobile software developer space2go. On the occasion
of the GSM World
Congress, February 14.-17.2005 in Cannes, space2go is presenting
this new “killer
application” for business users that is immediately available
after the congress. First European operators have already ordered
the solution for the Nokia Communicator and will start offering
it to their customers in Q1 2005. In addition to true email push
is the service also capable to wirelessly push new appointments,
tasks or contacts to the users device.
In addition
to the Email Push Client with several smart filters (for date range,
email size, battery level) space2go is also the first vendor to
offer email push to the new Communicator devices without the need
to install any software. This is
possible with the use of the build in Email Synchronisation client
that is based on the open SyncML standard and the use of OMA (Open
Mobile Alliance) Standards for WAP Push. The Nokia Email Sync Client
can be started using a WAP Push message freeing the user or the
Operator offering such a service from the need to deploy, support
and maintain any third party software on the Nokia Communicator.
“We expect to see more devices supporting this combination
of build in Email Synchronisation and server alerted synchronisation
in 2005” adds Huthmacher “after our Email Push
solution is based on open OMA specification, we will be the first
to support this new generation of clientless push solutions that
will help Email Push to grow far beyond the expensive tool for a
few managers it is today.”
space2go (Berlin), space2go is a leading European provider of software
and services for the mobile Internet. The company specialises in
access to personal data with mobile devices over the Internet. space2go
has developed wireless synchronisation
solutions based on the SyncML standard and offers email push also
for consumers with immedital access to any open Email service. space2go
operates 2,5 million mobile mailboxes as an ASP for customers like
Volkswagen AG, SIEMENS, ONE, Sunrise or others.
