Eco4Cloud, a spin-off from Italy’s National Research Council (CNR) and University of Calabria, has developed and productized an innovative and very effective software solution to optimize the consolidation of virtual machines and cut 20-50% the energy bill of highly virtualized/large scale data centers. It builds upon a self&-adaptive, probabilistic algorithm developed by a research group headed by Carlo Mastroianni – co-founder and scientific director of Eco4Cloud– at the Institute for High-Performance Computing and Networking at Italy’s National Research Council (ICAR-CNR). Eco4Cloud’s solutions have been proven in several deployments such as Telecom Italia’s, and validated by industry leaders such as VMware, Cisco Systems, Hewlett-Packard and IBM. The value proposition is crucially relevant for both business and technical audiences, and goes far beyond energy saving alone, spanning SLA management, resources insight, capacity management, orchestration optimization and risk monitoring/mitigation. Led by a world-class Team, Eco4Cloud is privately held and backed by initial funding from DPixel (seed capital) and Principia II (venture capital).
