2022New York, NY, December 10, 2014 -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- Native Sun, a conscious hip hop group from Indianapolis, is releasing their latest EP Undeniable. The six track album features popular tracks like The House and Burden of Proof which both received a positive critical reception this summer from fans and industry insiders. With an emphasis on creating music that touches and movies their fans, Native Sun puts the music first by offering the entire album for free on Soundcloud through their artist page.
To further promote Undeniable, the group is teaming up with Cameo, a micro filmmaking site that was recently acquired by the popular video platform Vimeo. Cameo creates a platform where musicians and short filmmakers can connect directly and license musical content for their film soundtracks. Today Native Sun debuted on the creative site with feature on Cameo’s homepage and blog.
Native Sun members B Young (emcee), B Meeks (bass) and Sleepy (drums) have created a unique sound that hails back to the origins of hip hop. By fusing live music, smooth lyrics and unexpected beats usually not associated with hip hop, the group channels memories of early hip hop turntablists and emcees who created slick rhymes over house beats to create a new style. Native Sun promises to stand out from the sounds and lyricism of what’s currently trending in commercial hip hop with a message that’s relevant and relatable to music fans and aspiring artists everywhere.
After the strong reception their first album Step Into The Light received, the group is poised for the national stage. Since their formation in 2008, Native Sun has become a staple in the Indianapolis live music scene as well as toured extensively across the Midwest. Notable performances include stage appearances with Elzhi (formally of Slum Village), DJ Logic and opening for artists such as Foreign Exchange, Musiq Soulchild, Mayer Hawthorne, Black Milk, Nappy Roots and Muhsinah. Now, Native Sun is taking their brand of hip hop on the road with performances outside of the Midwest, including a performance at New York’s iconic Bowery Electric.
