Mittelbiberach, Germany, November 13, 2015 -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- gKteso has recently presented the Radiotherapy Patient System (RPS), a 6D-Robotic Couch for radiotherapy with linear accelerators, to medical specialists at ASTRO, the professional fair for radiotherapy in San Antonio, Texas. "Both models, RPS base and RPS integrated, have been very well received by representatives of medical centers and clinics", summarizes Guido Kübler, Managing Director of gKteso and developer of RPS, after the appearance of his company at the fair.

The patient platform is movable in 6D, adjustable in height from 64 to 151 cm (25" to 59") at zero to 50 mm (0 to 2") per second. The margin provided in the lateral alignment is of up to plus/minus 25 cm (+/- 10") and in the length of up to plus/minus 57 cm (+/- 22 ") at zero to 80 mm (0-3 ") per second. The large adjustment angle of up to five degrees represents an additional advantage. Central point of any rotational movement is the isocenter, essentially facilitating operation. RPS is even capable to automatically correct organ movements by means of an external tracking procedure.

Integrated RFID-Reader

An integrated RFID-Reader reads in both patient data and all utilized supporting aids providing these data for documentation. Topic of major interest was RPS extended that allows serial and fast radiotherapy with linear accelerator. Up to three patients may be prepared and fixed for radiotherapy in separate rooms at the same time. Satellite arms gently transfer the patients to the system where they are conveyed to the 6D unit of the linear accelerator. The Radiotherapy Patient System RPS extended increases the cycles in patient treatment, consequently increasing the flow rate immensely. At the same time, the treatment team can take more time for the individual patient in the preparatory room. This is where the interest of single proton accelerator manufacturers was very strong.

All add-ons may be attached

Radiotherapy in the head and neck area requires specific fixation. All add-ons may be attached to RPS by gKteso. "The positive response at the fair has shown that the market is definitely ready for our novel 6D-Robotic Couch RPS", says Guido Kübler.
