Press Release Summary = Craft Technologies has been using the Polaratherm from Selerity Technologies to experiment with sub-ambient temperature separations

Press Release Body = In the search for optimized research techniques, nutraceuticals expert Craft Technologies has been experimenting with sub-ambient temperature separations, in particular, using the Polaratherm from Selerity Technologies (Salt Lake City, Utah). The separation of phytochemicals in natural products, including
powerful anti-oxidants (carotenoids), has seen renewed interest for their use in nutraceuticals. It is believed that the anti-oxidant capabilities of carotenoids may reduce the risk of developing cancer.

Craft Technologies, Inc (Wilson, North Carolina) is a contract laboratory specializing in the analysis of fat-soluble vitamins, carotenoids, and phytochemicals in serum, tissue, foods, and nutraceuticals. Additionally, Craft Technologies provides new method development and consultation regarding vitamin and carotenoid analysis for human and animal nutrition. Using Selerity’s Polaratherm, Craft Technologies has conducted experiments to separate retinol and retinyl esters, carotenoids, and tocopherols. The results have
all demonstrated that sub-ambient and programmable temperature separations using the Polaratherm yield improved chromatographic separations. Method development has been simplified, analysis time reduced and peak resolution improved.

Selerity’s Polaratherm is a HPLC column compartment capable of controlling the temperature from sub zero to 200ºC benefiting from two modes of operation, temperature programming and isothermal. It is the first column compartment that allows and regulates high, ambient, low or dynamic temperatures for selectivity tuning and improved HPLC separations. This equipment is applicable to most vendor HPLC systems and can be deployed in any laboratory already operating HPLC at little additional cost.
