The vending idea came about when Mr. Karnes experienced his own daughters playing in community athletics and watching other parents getting eaten alive in the stands. "Every week I watched cans of insect spray being passes throughout the spectators, said Karnes. The Town of Pleasant, a Charleston SC community, realized the need for insect protection at their ball fields and the first insect vending machine was installed last week at Sloan Ball Field. Ted Summerford, Director for the Recreation Department said, "If this works, the public might demand we put these machines at all of our fields and parks".
