Press Release Summary = Dr. Dr. Thayer took over WZPH Mar. 14, fulfilled all
contractual obligations, then, at 9 pm on Ap. 14, 2005, began playing 100,000 songs
in a row with NO COMMERCIALS!
Press Release Body =
To break/set a world record, a dj had to buy a radio station. This happened Mar.
14, 2005. After completing all contractual obligations, on Ap. 14 at 9 pm, the dj,
Dr. Dr. "Doc" Thayer, started playing no commercials...just song after song after
song, reaching a world record 100,000 songs in a row! That's a world record for a
Fed. Com. Comm. licensed FM radio station!
Doc said, "I bought The Switch, in Zephyrhills, FL, USA, Earth. 96.7 fm, WZPH. I
switched it from The Switch, which was playing Contemporary Christian Hit Music to
Goodtime Oldies. It's now the Zephyr and has a world record--with NO commercials!!!
I'm going for a world-record 100,000 songs in a row! Has any dj anywhere EVER played
100,000 songs in a row?!? Noooo...he'd have to buy a station to do that!! <grin>"
When asked if there weren't a lot of stations playing music on fm, Doc's alter-ego,
Impressive Hulk (not quite Incredible, but we will 'give' him: Impressive), roared,"Those Puny Tampa stations say they play 50-minute and 52-minute music hours. The
Zephyr rolls 60-minute music hours 24/7!" Hulk added, "Those Tampa stations measure
long-a-- music sets in minutes; The Zephyr measures 'em in months!" The Zephyr is"conducted by St. Leo University's John Mouw (aka Dr. Wilbur Daffodil, owner of
Pirate Radio, WDCX, Dade City-a legal station), Hillsborough Com. College's "CB"
Craig Blevens (computer genius/instructor), and Dr. Dr. "Doc" Thayer.
Other key personnel include Ms. Terious (aka mysterious)/Ms. Partly Cloudy (Jane
Peterson), Ms. Mostly Sunny (Joyce Sundheim), Fancy Pants Nancy (model Nancy Moore),
Ms. Mostly Cloudy (Judy Blevins), Mr. Thunderstorms (CB's alter ego), Gregg First,
Jo Anne, and newly named Sales Manager, Mike Maynard. But what is the function of a
SM for a station that plays NO commercials? Says Doc, "Mike's function is to look
good for the ladies...and he does!"

This is Doc's 3rd attempt at making Guinness World Book. He made it in Nov, 1978,
kissing 3,225 ladies in 8 hours during a Muscular Dystrophy Assoc. Marathon at LSU
in Baton Rouge, LA. Twice he tied an on-air marathon, doing 100 hours on the air
nonstop...once in 1973 in Fayetteville, NC, and again in 1980 in New Orleans. Doc is
currently negotiating with Guinness to buy "a slew" (as he puts it) of their books
to give away on the air, once the record is printed. The Zephyr will give away a
free copy...and click on the above link to leave a World-Wide Dedication or Shout
Out at toll free 866-346-WZPH.)
Sat. Oct. 29, The Zephyr, held a 9-hour live show on Main Street in Zephyrhills.
Doc’s alter ego, Impressive (not quite Incredible) Hulk and Elvis gave away lots of
free prizes from WZPH that day, along with a guest app from Molly Hatchett, plus
live broadcast from 3pm-midnight, and recording of Worldwide Shoutouts. What's
next? Doc says it's time to gloat for awhile, then maybe think about playing a
million songs in a row.
