Synchronica Wins Siemens Deal - the World's First SyncML Firmware Update

Berlin / Kamp-Lintfort, May 10, 2004 - Synchronica, the German software specialist for wireless synchronization and device management today announced a major deal with Siemens mobile, the mobile communications group of Siemens AG. Under the deal, Synchronica will provide Siemens mobile with the world's first SyncML server delivering over-the-air firmware updates for Siemens mobile phones.

With this new solution updating the firmware of a mobile phone is as simple as selecting a menu item - The mobile phone establishes a wireless connection to the Synchronica server which then automatically installs the most up-to-date firmware onto the device. With the Synchronica solution, users always have the latest software without the hassle of visiting a shop to get an update.

"We are solving a major headache for device manufacturers and mobile operators. Manual firmware update for millions of phones is causing enormous support costs each month. With automatic over-the-air delivery of software updates we can reduce these costs to a fraction and at the same time improve customer satisfaction" said Carsten Brinkschulte, founder and CEO of Synchronica.

Synchronica and Siemens mobile are pioneers in SyncML and will be the first to offer over-the-air firmware update based on SyncML. The server will be operated and maintained by Siemens mobile which will offer the service worldwide to users of Siemens mobile phones. The Synchronica solution is based on the open industry standard SyncML supported by all major mobile phone manufacturers including Siemens, SonyEricsson and Nokia.

"SyncML Device Management has a huge potential" said Carsten Brinkschulte, "Using SyncML, you can completely reconfigure a device, change various settings, install applications and even update the firmware. Thanks to the open industry standard SyncML, our solutions are vendor-independent and compatible with many devices supporting SyncML."

"This is a splendid start for Synchronica" said Nicole Meissner, co-founder of Synchronica "winning Siemens mobile after only a few months of operation instantly positions Synchronica in the pole-position. Synchronica has been profitable from day one and clearly is on the road to success."
