Professional organizer assists others in selling home while interest rates are low

Released on = September 27, 2004, 4:55 am

Press Release Author = Terri Weston

Press Release Summary = Professional organizer assists others in selling home while
interest rates are low.

Press Release Body = CARROLLTON Texas—When Terri Weston, a professional organizer, and her husband, Dan, a retired pharmacist, decided to sell their home after 15 years, she realized that it would take a lot of time and effort to make their home marketable. But she didn’t realize everything that would be involved.

Weston soon discovered it would require more than just cleaning, painting and cosmetic improvements. Her home needed a complete decluttering before she could even begin those necessary tasks. The problem was how to clean out and declutter 15 years of “stuff”?

Thanks to her knowledge and professional experience in decluttering and organizing,
Weston designed and implemented a three-step approach to her dilemma. She soon realized that others in similar situations could use her system to help them declutter and organize in preparation for showing and selling their own homes.

The decluttering begins with what Ms. Weston calls the “three-bags approach.” She uses three large trash bags, each a different color. Color coding is key. Designating one bag for donations, one bag for garage sale, and one bag for
throwaways, the process is simple and effective. In fact, it’s amazing how easily the contents of the entire house can be minimized using this simple approach.

For larger items such as old mattresses or appliances that need to be disposed of, Terri located a group on the Internet called FreeCycle (www.freecycle.com) that
allows members to post an offer for giveaway. She received 59 responses to her offer of a mattress and sofa. They were both gone in a matter of hours.

After her decluttering process was complete, the next step was to organize what was left. This innovative thinker used a family shower organizer and tanktop organizer to straighten up the bathroom. It made a tremendous difference in appearance, even
making the bathroom look larger. Other organizing techniques throughout her home quickly made use of every nook and cranny to give her home an open, clutter-free appearance.

Weston was so successful in preparing her own home to show and sell that she now helps homeowners and realtors do the same. Her website, www.luv2organize.com, even
provides the products she found most useful so others won’t have to search for them. Each purchase includes free tips for preparing a home to show and sell, and tips on how to maximize profits, as well as sources for disposing of larger items or odd items using services like FreeCycle. Organizing is not only Terri Weston’s business, it’s her passion. It’s obvious she has put her heart in the right place.
