New Programs Allow Institutions to Distribute Adobe Software Products at a Lower Cost to Students, Faculty and Staff

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Oct. 19, 2004 — Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) today announced new licensing programs to help institutions better take advantage of Adobe software products campus-wide. The new programs allow institutions to distribute Adobe software products at a lower cost to students, faculty and staff for use in teaching, learning and administrative activities.

The Adobe Education Student Licensing Option enables institutions to purchase volume licenses for students of certain Adobe desktop software products, including Adobe® Acrobat®, Adobe Creative Suite® and Adobe Video Collection. With the new program, institutions can make Adobe software a standard tool in their courses at a lower cost to students, and at the same time earn points toward further discounts on other purchases as part of their Contractual Licensing Program (CLP) agreement. Under this program, students own the license, allowing them to continue using the Adobe software products after they graduate or leave the institution. Students are also eligible to purchase upgrades and support options.

One of the first schools to leverage the Student Licensing program is San Jose State University, which has more than 1,000 students participating in a wireless laptop project in the School of Art and Design, the School of Journalism and Mass Communications, and three departments within the School of Education. Each student in the program receives a laptop loaded with Adobe Creative Suite software.

"We are always looking for tools that give students the professional training they need at a lower cost," says Mary Jo Gorney-Moreno, assistant vice president of academic technology at San Jose State University. "With the new program, professors have more freedom to incorporate interactive lessons into curricula, and students have vital learning tools right at their fingertips."

Adobe also offers additional licensing programs that can be adapted to the needs and buying cycles of educational institutions. The high volume discount program provides a sliding scale of discounts based on how much the institution purchases; and the Acrobat® All Access program provides special rewards for institutions that commit to the latest version of Acrobat across their campus.
