Travellers keen to stretch their legs during their stay at hotels in Paris could take part in the Paris Versailles Walk on September 26th.

This event has been running for more than 30 years and sees participants traverse the stunning streets of the French capital while onlookers cheer them to the finish line.

It could be an ideal way for tourists to see the sights of Paris while on the move, since the challenge begins on the steps of the Eiffel Tower and ends at the Chateau de Versailles.

Anyone who has not prepared their bodies for a 16km run - or jog, depending on fitness - may wish to attend the event to applaud those taking part.

While it is free to cheer people on, it costs €26 to sign up for the race, which takes in several different roads, such as the Tunnel Andre Citroen, the Garigliano Bridge, the Cote des Gardes and the Route de la Fontaine d'Ursine before reaching the final destination.

It could finally be the lucky year for a Kenyan runner named Wangari, who has finished in second place for the past three years, with his compatriot Maregu winning in 2007 and 2008 and Moroccan athlete El Hachimi taking the title in 2009.

Professional entrants such as these will begin the run at 10:00 local time, with everyone else setting off in waves from then on.
