Butlins,
providers of family holidays, has been awarded the UK Customer
Experience Award in Travel, Leisure and Tourism, beating Eurostar and Carnival
UK. The awards have been introduced this year by Don Hale of Awards International
who founded the National UK Customer Service Awards.
This award is in recognition of the importance Butlins places on team training,
both at the three beachside Resorts, Bognor Regis, Minehead and Skegness, and
their Head Office at Hemel Hempstead, especially in the area of customer service.
It has an ongoing programme of coaching run by its own team members rather than
external training companies; the people it believes knows its business and guests
the best. Last year Butlins, who offer great deals on all UK breaks, won the
Customer Service Employer of the Year Award ahead of mega-corporations including
American Express, British Gas, Kwik Fit Financial Services and Sky.
Judges included academics and practitioners in the world of marketing and customer
service. They commented with regard to Butlins’ achievement;
“The training they give to their employees is one of their main strengths”
“The use of the roadmap and the quiz methods to plan and embed learning
and development...very effective”
“Special
mention to the experience ownership focus, very clear and remarkable customer
focused culture”
