There will be art exhibitions and musical performances, and
the shops in the area will be providing demonstrations. There will also
be Northern plays and a Lanna style market, or Kard Mua. The shops in
the area have been invited to take part in this year’s activities and
to show their produce and crafts at the event.
Chiang Mai is the largest city in Northern Thailand. It is situated 435 miles north
of Bangkok amongst the highest mountains in the region.
Although this city is increasing in modern culture its history still plays an
important role and its old major trade routes are still used today. The city's
longstanding handcrafted goods, such as, jewellery, wood carvings and umbrellas are
made to this day and traded along the Ping River which is one of the major trade
routes in the area.
Shopping in Chiang Mai is an experience that shouldn't be missed. From the famous
night bazaar to a number of modern shopping centres visitors will find whatever they
are looking for, and with this city attracting over a million visitors a year they
must be doing something right.
Tourists planning on visiting the area for this event will find that any one of the Chiang Mai hotels will be able to provide them with the comfortable room for their
stay.
