It's been attracting tourists religious or not - to the capital for decades, and is easily the largest, most spectacular service of its kind in the UK.
Widely considered Britain's spiritual centre, St. Paul's Cathedral will mark the first Eucharist of Christmas in the traditional way, a service conducted all over Christendom. The main attraction is undoubtedly the Choir of St. Paul's, and this year's service will also feature the Barbican Brass playing festive music, including Benjamin Britten's Ceremony of Carols. The service commences at 11.30, finishing in the early hours of Christmas Day.
The cathedral is always packed out on Christmas Eve, and St. Paul's offers numerous other events throughout December so visitors get a chance to see Sir Christopher Wren's iconic building from the inside. Other events taking place during the 2012 season include La Nativite du Seigneur by Olivier Messiaen and a Christmas Carol Service the day before Christmas Eve.
