December 14, 2012, 3:16 pm -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- Eighteen staff members of White Nelson Diehl Evans LLP (WNDE) teamed up to raise $1,521 to fight prostate and testicular cancer through their participation in the annual 2012 Movember fundraiser (visit http://us.movember.com/). The funds support cancer research; the mustaches help raise awareness of the disease.
We had great participation by members of the firm, putting us in the top 20% of fundraisers among companies in the United States, noted Baru Sanchez, CPA, a WNDE senior audit associate who served as Movember team captain. We're especially pleased since this is the first time the firm has participated in Movember.
Men who participated in the fundraiser were asked to grow mustaches beginning November 1, and seek donations from co-workers, family and friends. The team's top individual fundraiser was WNDE partner Thomas Kretschmar, who raised $556. The best mustache award went to staff member Joshua Basile.
The next firm-wide fundraising effort to fight cancer will be in April, when men are invited to shave their heads and participate in a St. Baldrick's Foundation fundraiser to fight pediatric cancer.
