A new restaurant overlooking the zoo concludes a year of refurbishment at London’s popular attraction.

-- /EPR NETWORK/ -- A new restaurant will open next week at ZSL London Zoo, completing a £9million makeover that has seen the zoo maintain its position as one of London's premier tourist attractions. Opening on 19 July 2013, The Terrace Restaurant is set to be the cherry on the cake for visitors to London Zoo. Costing £4.4m, the new restaurant will seat up to 700 hungry visitors, and provide a setting to rival the capital's top eateries including a decadently large terrace overlooking the Zoo. London Zoo has been located in Regent's Park for more than a hundred years, a short walk from many of London's best value hotels. The Zoo has already had a busy 2013. It began by opening the £3.6m Tiger Territory exhibit, which allows visitors to come nose-to-nose with critically endangered Sumatran tigers, Jae Jae and Melati. The exhibit recreates a lush Indonesian jungle and is designed to meet the big cats' every need from heated rock formations and sky-high feeding poles to their very own swimming pool. The flagship exhibit is the largest investment by the Zoo since Gorilla Kingdom opened in 2007, and has been built to provide the perfect home for the tigers keepers have high hopes that it won't be long until the pitter-patter of tiny tiger paws can be heard in the Zoo.

Also in 2013 came new enclosures for the endangered Malayan tapir and Bactrian camels featuring moats, giant paddocks and stunning views across Regent's Park. A new Seahorses exhibit opened in the Zoo's aquarium, providing the ideal environment to breed this iconic, yet threatened, species. The exhibit also allows visitors to see the action first-hand and watch as the minuscule babies emerge. With incredible animals to see, of more than 800 different species, and more than 20 animal demonstrations and talks to catch, there's something for everyone to enjoy at ZSL London Zoo this summer.
